Steffan has a lifelong involvement in sport. He has 5 football caps for Wales at under 18 level and for 12 years was guide runner to international blind athlete Tracey Hinton, where he was fortunate to compete with her at the Athens, Beijing and London Paralympic Games. Alongside his running, he was a primary school teacher for 10 years responsible for the delivery of Sport and Physical Education. In his spare time, he can be found walking the coastline or hiking in the hills.
He set up Sgiliau to assist schools in raising the standard of Physical Education. He also wanted to provide opportunities for children to be physically active during the school holidays. The holiday clubs are led by passionate, talented and caring coaches that share the same vision. We strongly believe that sport has a vital part to play in a child’s development and we aim to deliver outstanding experiences through our multi-sport activities and our friendly approach.
Carwyn is a primary school teacher at Maenclochog. Enjoys playing and coaching all kinds of sports. Has to juggle working in the holiday clubs around father duties to his 2 young children!
Cleo works for the WRU as a rugby development officer having just graduated with first class honours in Sports Coaching. She was the first team netball captain whilst at University and is a keen weightlifter. Works in the holiday clubs and does birthday parties.
Dafydd teaches in the Foundation Phase at Ysgol Parc y Tywyn in Burry Port. Works in the holiday clubs and birthday parties. He is also one of the Llanelli District schoolboy coaches at under 11 level. Scrum-half for Newcastle Emlyn during the winter plays cricket for Whitland during the summer.
Daf is a teacher at Ysgol Trimaran primary. He enjoys his cricket where he is captain of Drefach cricket club. Works in the holiday clubs.
Elin works as a teaching assistant in St Mary’s primary school in Llanelli. Has aspirations of being a PE teacher and is hoping to complete her PGCE next year. She works for Sgiliau in the holiday clubs, the weekly Sgiliau bach multi-skills clubs and birthday parties.
Elin is a PE teacher at Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw in Pontypool. She has played rugby for Wales and is a valuable member of the Cardiff Blues women’s team. She is originally from Aberystwyth and heads back west to see family and deliver the holiday club in Aber.
Geraint is one of our most experienced coaches. He is an inclusion officer at Ystalyfera school providing an enriched curricular and extracurricular programme for the pupils. He has a background in playing a variety of sports but is currently playing football in the Carmarthenshire League.
Ifan works at Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig in Aberystwyth. He is a local lad and was a pupil at the school there. Plays rugby for Aber and works in the holiday clubs.
Jaz is one of the youngest members of the team since she came on board last year. She plays 7s and 15s for Wales and last year represented GB in rugby 7s at the Rio Olympics. She is currently completing her BSc in Sports Coaching at Cardiff Met. Very fast! Always smiling!
Jonny is a teacher at Ysgol Hafan y Mor primary in Tenby. Works in the holiday clubs. Plays rugby and cricket for Whitland, football for St.Clears. All-rounder.
Lawrence is a PE teacher at Ysgol Cymer Rhondda. He has had experience of teaching in a primary school whilst working in Dubai. Enjoys coaching a range of sports especially gymnastics. Plays rugby in the Welsh Premiership with Carmarthen Quins.
Lisa works in Ysgol Bro Dinefwr. She is a very experienced coach having coached a number of sports to the children of Llandeilo for years. Works in the holiday clubs when she’s not chauffeuring her daughter Mia to training and fixtures with the Welsh squad.
Meg has been a coach at the holiday club in Ammanford since it started. She is currently out in New York working in ‘Camp America’. We look forward to welcoming her back on her return.
Nikki is a 3rd-year student at University Wales Trinity St David studying Sports Coaching. She is a very keen netball player where she is captain of the University team and is an aspiring coach having just completed her level 2 and one of the West Wales coaches. Last year she was awarded the volunteer of the year award by Sport Carmarthenshire. Works in the holiday clubs, weekly Sgiliau bach clubs and birthday parties.
Owen works as a part-time PE teacher in Ysgol Maes y Gwendraeth and works for Sgiliau one day a week delivering PE in Dafen primary school. He is also into his 2nd year of his MSc in Sports Science. He enjoys coaching all kinds of sports and is the S&C coach for Newcastle Emlyn rugby club.
Sioned is Head of PE at Ysgol Ystalyfera. She plays rugby for the Scarlets region and has been involved in the last 3 World Cups. She enjoys working with Sgiliau in the holiday camps when her training schedule allows it.
Steff is a year 6 teacher at ysgol Plascrug primary in Aberystwyth. Recently became a father for the first time. Works in the holiday clubs when he can. A very accomplished footballer player having played for Carmarthen Town and Haverfordwest County FC in recent years.
Steff graduated with a BSc in Sport and PE from Cardiff Met, he has been working in a primary school as a teaching assistant last year and is currently on his PGCE.
